The Bourne Identity

The Bourne Identity - Robert Ludlum Two stars because it was just okay.

I really wanted to love this book. I began this book thinking that it would be a no-brainer win for me. I am completely obsessed with the movies, so I believed that I would feel the same about the books. Even though I knew that the books would be different, I still felt they would be better than the movies.

This book came nowhere near impressing me the way the movie did. The first third of the book was very good. The middle was decent and only went downhill from there. My biggest problem with this book is that I didn't care about the characters....at all. I was kind of ready for them to just die so that the story would end.

It was like reading a semi-boring news article. The things that happened were interesting but I just didn't really care. Bad things were happening on top of bad things, there was never any time to get to know the characters. I love action but it needs to be balanced out with some down time.

You will love this book if you're looking for an action packed book and/or don't really care much about character development. There's nothing wrong with that at all. It's just not for me.
