Shatter Me

Shatter Me - Tahereh Mafi At first I didn't think that I would like this book. The purple prose was driving me nuts and I just didn't know about it. Then the story took over and the little things that were bothering me suddenly weren't so bothersome anymore. This story reminds me a little bit of Xmen. I feel like this could almost be a prequel to the Xmen movies..

I felt like I was right there inside of this crazy little world. The characters are very likable and I cannot wait to find out what happens next. I even somewhat like the villain. It's always good when you somewhat like a villain, it makes things more interesting. At least for me it does.

This is definitely a "romancy" type of book. There's a lot of romance but there's also a ton of other things going on. The main characters relationship makes the story way more interesting. You will understand why if you read it.

The book ending leaves you wanting to read more but it's not one of those horrible cliffhangers that piss you off. My favorite part of the book is when (I can't remember his name right now) says,

"Son of a motherless goat"

Now that was seriously funny! I am SO going to start saying this all of the time now.

So, if you like the whole romantic oppressive government people are trying to kill you genre, then you might love this book. If purple prose makes you sick then you may want to sample this book before buying. It can be a lot to deal with at times.
