Run

For a while I thought the characters were a little bland. As the story progressed that wasn't the case as much. I really grew to care about the main character Jack. His family not so much, mostly Dee. Those characters never really had much of an opportunity to shine. Dee did in many parts but I still didn't really care for her. To be fair, 1st person is my favorite POV. I like to know in great detail how the characters are feeling and etc. This is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5.
That's really not what this book is about anyway IMO. This book is mainly about the hell that started in society and one family's struggle to survive. The world building was very good. I felt like I was there. My heart was racing and at times I was a little scared. If you like apocalyptic horror then I think you should give this one a try.
I will definitely read more from this author. The Pines is next on my list!
